Goals of the Symposium
- To identify gaps in knowledge in the:
- evidence for the available preventive strategies and frequency of their use in the clinical setting
- evidence for the evaluation and treatment of patients with urolithiasis in the acute and chronic setting
- pathogenesis of crystal/stone formation at the cellular level
- To develop recommendations for NIDDK for important areas of future urolithiasis research
- To attract new investigators to the field of nephrolithiasis with the hope that innovative thinkers and approaches will lead to fundamental and clinically important discoveries, ultimately leading to a reduction in the burden of disease.
