The purpose of the 2009 Mid-Atlantic Diabetes Research Symposium is to encourage collaborations and better interactions at the regional level in terms of sharing reagents and expertise.
To accomplish this, there will be a special session (oral and/or poster) for investigators to propose collaborations. Also, there will be special topics such as a summary of the major research and treatment advances over the last couple of years, and a presentation on biological materials and databases that are available at the National Institutes of Health. In the afternoon, there will be additional short talks plus several hot topics chosen from submitted abstracts in the fields of obesity/insulin resistance/type 2 diabetes and beta cell biology/type 1 diabetes.
